Artist Demonstration with John MacDonald and Awards for WSA Library Show
November 5 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
On Sunday, November 5, the Wellesley Society of Artists, Inc. (WSA) is pleased to host an artist demonstration with renowned landscape oil painter John MacDonald at the Wakelin room at the Wellesley Free Library from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The WSA is grateful to Hartney Greymont for underwriting this demo and to the Wellesley Free Library for providing the venue.
The afternoon, which is open to the general public, will begin with a reception. Admission is free, but the WSA will be collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to the Wellesley Food Pantry and welcomes any contributions to this effort. At 1:15 p.m. the WSA will present the judge’s awards to WSA Member Artists exhibiting in the Fall 2017 Library Show.
The WSA is honored to have artist and Wellesley resident, Michelle Jung, as the judge for this show. She is recognized for her large paintings of majestic seascapes and landscapes. A Connecticut native, Michelle works outdoors from life creating small paintings she uses as references for large paintings done in studio. Nature, beauty and the dualistic qualities we feel as humans continue to inspire her work. Working in series, Michelle uses classical methods of painting in layers to evoke a timeless feeling to her work. She will be awarding first, second and third place as well as the Margaret Fitzwilliam Award for Excellence in water media.
In addition, there will be a Best Presentation Award. Framed in Time is a popular framing store in historic Saxonville that is well known to WSA artists and others. Owner, John Fornier has been a supporter of artists for many years and will be sponsoring an award for the best presentation of an artwork.
