Liz Gorman

Natick, MA

Liz works from subject matter she has observed or has been moved by in nature. She has a strong appreciation for the outdoors, and likes to be reminded of the seasons, light, and weather in her artwork. Frequently, Liz depicts scenes of serenity and innocence. Children and animals are common subjects in her artwork. She likes to challenge herself by creating images that are both clearly recognizable, yet show the artistic process, including marks, strokes and paper texture. Liz also uses color to slightly skew the degree of realism in her paintings. Liz’s style is energetic, even when depicting a serene scene, there is a sense of energy through her brush strokes and color choice. Her favorite medium is watercolors, and some of her role models in art include Beatrix Potter, Holly Hobby and Tasha Tudor.
