Lucy Haward Sur

After years of experimenting with various art forms, and painting watercolor landscapes, Lucy found a new passion with botanical art. Learning to really look at her subjects with a far more observant eye is critical to the integrity of her artwork, a skill she continues to hone. The shadows on a flower, the curve of a leaf, the twining of a vine all present opportunities to paint the forms and details of each subject, each with their own special beauty. Lucy primarily paints in watercolor, but also paints landscapes in both acrylic and oil, inspired by scenes throughout New England and Hawaii. Some of her professional affiliations include American Society of Botanical Artists, New England Society of Botanical Artists, Friends of Wellesley College Botanical Gardens and the Chatham Creative Arts Center. Lucy’s artwork has been in many shows throughout New England including the Boston Flower and Garden Show and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
