Vasilia Laskaris

Canton, MA

Vasilia draws and paints portraits, landscapes and the still life. She has an affinity for portraiture due to her keen interest in people and ‘physiognomies’.  In general, she loves working in most mediums: charcoal, pastel, oil, watercolor and acrylic. For a commissioned portrait, choice of medium is determined by the sitter’s preference.

Vasilia attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for post-graduate work after receiving her B.A. in Art from Mundelein College. She became certified as an Art Specialist in the state of Massachusetts and taught art in the Boston and Needham Public Schools for fifteen years.

As a member of the Needham Art Association and the Wellesley Society of Artists, she has exhibited and received many awards for her work. Additionally, she has received ‘Copley Artist’ status as a member of the Copley Society of Boston.

Vasilia has had fifteen one-woman shows.  Her portraits and paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, South America and Europe.
