SUMMARY:Art Call for "A Charles River Journey"
DESCRIPTION:The Wellesley Society of Artists and the Dedham Art Association in collaboration with the Charles River Watershed Association\, invite New England area artists to a Call for Art for the early 2027 exhibition\, A Charles River Journey: 80 Artists\, 80 Miles. \nArtists are invited to share their visual impressions of the Charles River—from its meandering natural landscapes to the diverse communities it connects\, and its vital role as both a recreational and ecological resource. Seen through the artist’s eye the flora\, fauna\, people\, and places are reimagined as a lasting record of the environmental and social narratives that define our time. \nThis unique exhibition will bring together artists to foster environmental awareness and give homage to the river as a vital thread connecting us to nature and each other. Eighty works will be selected\, representing the rich and varied life of the Charles River along its full 80-mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston. \nArtists living in New England—both emerging and established—as well as students enrolled in New England universities\, are invited to submit one original two-dimensional work. Accepted media include painting\, drawing\, mixed media/collage\, and printmaking. Eighty artworks will be juried into the exhibit and eligible for over $2500 in cash awards.  \nEXHIBITION LOCATION  \nThe Mosesian Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts venue in Watertown\, Massachusetts. The 30\,000 square foot center\, located within a former U.S. Army arsenal\, houses two theaters\, exhibition galleries\, classrooms\, and rehearsal studios. Mosesian Arts is located six miles from downtown Boston\, borders the Charles River and Brighton\, and is easily accessible from surrounding suburbs and Metro West. DESCRIPTION:Portraits: Here’s Looking at You\nThe WSA is thrilled to announce the opening of its newly created online exhibition space\, the Huntington Gallery. Elizabeth H. T. Huntington (1878–1963) was a vibrant and inspiring member of the Wellesley community. During the Great Depression\, she brought local artists together\, helping establish what became the Wellesley Society of Artists in 1933. This online exhibition gallery\, named in her honor\, celebrates her vision\, creativity\, and remarkable spirit. This gallery space is for both WSA group member exhibitions as well individual member shows. \n  \n \n\n\n  \nEvery portrait is a story told without words. For centuries\, portraiture has been one of our most vital art forms – a way to preserve memory\, honor identity\, and look deeply into the essence of another living being. This show brings together a vibrant tapestry of faces. Together\, these works remind us why portraits remain so deeply loved: they hold a mirror to our own hearts\, celebrating the universal bonds of life. SUMMARY:"The Nuts and Bolts of Selling Art"
DESCRIPTION:Join the Wellesley Society of Artists and John and Gillian Ross\, owners of Gallery Twist\, Lexington for a primer on “The Nuts and Bolts of Selling Art”\, Tuesday\, September 29th\, 6:30-8pm\, at the Wellesley Free Library Wakelin Room.  This session is designed to help artists navigate the complexities of finding “new homes” for their work by addressing the key issues that matter most to both artists and gallery owners. \nTopics will include: \n\nPricing strategies\nThe importance of presenting/framing artwork\nInsights into what galleries consider when choosing art\nPro-tips (and common pitfalls!) for working with gallery owners\n\nThe presentation will conclude with a Q&A session\, offering an opportunity to get direct feedback from experienced gallery owners. \nGallery Twist is located in the center of Lexington\, Massachusetts\, in a beautiful historic home near the Battle Green. The unique setting in a beautiful historic house\, together with the distinctive way art isdisplayed\, makes it indeed a gallery with a twist. Each year 3 – 5 exhibitions are presented\, offering visitors an opportunity to view an eclectic mix of New England artwork in various styles and media. In this welcoming and un-intimidating environment visitors enjoy what many have called ‘an art experience’. Gillian & John Ross opened Gallery Twist in 2015.
