Evelyn has long been fascinated with color, and says she is deeply affected by it, especially its vibrancy. She attributes this to having been born and raised in the Dominican Republic where explosions of color happen everywhere you look under the intense Caribbean light. Flowers were her first inspiration, not just because of their wonderful colors, but for their symbolic appeal as well. Evelyn says, “they carry the promise of life”. She also loves to paint forests, waterfalls and landscapes. Evelyn’s goal in painting is to capture and express nature’s mysteries and quiet sacredness. When she visits unspoiled places she embraces the visual as well as the spiritual. It is her hope to convey their power and magical energy through her work. Evelyn has lived in the US for 40 years and it is her pleasure to call New England home.
