Janet Cerella

Wellesley, MA

Skiing along streams and snow-covered mountains, hiking the coasts of Maine and the shores of Cape Cod have strengthened Janet’s love of nature. American landscape painters such as John Carlson and John Twachtman, whose exceptional skills captured the myriad moods of nature, have inspired Janet’s paintings. As an artist, Janet seeks to translate nature’s beauty, its colors, its light and shadows to the canvas, to try and recreate the experience born of the scene itself.

Janet took a long break from oil painting while she pursued careers as a clinical social worker and marketing executive and raised her daughter. After retiring, she resumed a focus on landscape oil painting and has attended plein air workshops and studio art classes. Janet has always sought challenge and capturing the mood and beauty of a scene in nature is a goal not easily attained. Thus, painting is one of the ways in which Janet finds continued challenge.
