ABOUT WELLESLEY SOCIETY OF ARTISTS

We promote art as a universal language for self-expression and shared experience, with the hope that it can serve as a catalyst to bring people together.

Founded in 1933, the Wellesley Society of Artists, Inc. (WSA) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting artists and fostering an appreciation for the fine arts in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and surrounding communities.

The WSA cultivates a vibrant creative community through juried exhibitions, artist demonstrations, educational programs, workshops, and online resources that inspire creativity, encourage artistic growth, and deepen engagement with the visual arts. Whether you create art, collect it, or simply enjoy experiencing it, the WSA offers opportunities to connect with artists, attend exhibitions and events, expand your understanding of the arts, and celebrate their enduring role in our communities.

GIVING BACK

The WSA believes that an active arts organization has a responsibility to give back to the community it serves.

In addition to providing free arts programming, the WSA supports local nonprofits, community organizations, charitable initiatives, and the next generation of artists.

Our community contributions include:

  • Massachusetts Horticultural Society (Festival of Trees): Championing local holiday fundraising since 2023 through dedicated annual sponsorship and creative support.
  • Wellesley Historical Society: Partnered to host a landmark Art and Ornament Sale in 2025, directly generating vital funding to preserve local history.
  • Friends of Wellesley Veterans: Honoring and advocating for local service members through active, proud participation in the annual Wellesley Veterans Parade.
  • Wellesley High School: Investing in tomorrow’s creative leaders by funding the WSA Art Achievement Award to elevate and encourage exceptional student artists.
  • Wellesley Food Pantry: Sustaining a near-decade-long legacy of community care by rallying members to collect critical food donations during our flagship November Artist Demonstrations since 2017.
  • Wellesley Rotary Club (Taste of Wellesley): Anchored a multi-year creative partnership from 2018 through 2024, leveraging local art auctions to drive essential community fundraising.
