Exhibiting Membership is intended for artists who have demonstrated a level of proficiency in their work and are ready to participate in juried exhibitions.
How to Become an Exhibiting Member
Applicants submit an online portfolio along with a brief artist statement. The WSA Jury Committee reviews all submissions and typically notifies applicants of its decision within two weeks.
Artwork submitted for jurying must:
- Be the artist’s original concept, created from life, the artist’s own ideas, or reference material such as photographs taken by the artist.
- Be executed entirely by the artist’s own hand.
- Be two-dimensional in nature.
Please note that the WSA does not accept photography, textiles, glass, or metal artwork for Exhibiting Membership.

Membership Fee
The annual Exhibiting Membership fee is $65 ($50 prior to Jan. 2027) and is payable only after an applicant has been accepted by the Jury Committee. Applicants who are not accepted may reapply once every 12 months.
Benefits of Exhibiting Membership
The WSA provides artists with opportunities to exhibit their work, develop their creative practice, and connect with a vibrant community of fellow artists from the greater Boston area, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
Exhibiting Members enjoy:
- Opportunities to participate in member exhibitions at the Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley Historical Society and other community venues in the metro west area, as well as in the WSA website online gallery.
- Juried exhibitions judged by professional artists, with cash awards.
- Demonstrations and educational programs presented by professional artists working in a variety of media. Participation in all member only programs and events
- Exhibiting Members are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer with the WSA by participating in programs and exhibition planning as well as organization administration.
- A dedicated artist page on the WSA website.
- Membership in a welcoming and supportive community of artists
Associate Membership is open to artists, art enthusiasts, collectors, and community members who wish to support the WSA. It is an excellent option for artists who are developing their work and are not yet ready to apply for Exhibiting Membership, as well as for individuals who simply wish to support the organization’s mission. No jury process is required. Associate Members are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer with the WSA in all aspects of the organization.
Membership Fee
The annual Associate Membership fee is $30 ($20 prior to January 2027) and is payable upon submission of the new associate member form.

- Associate Members are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer with the WSA by participating in programs and exhibition planning as well as organization administration.
- Opportunity to exhibit artwork in at least one non judged exhibition a year.
- Participation in all member only programs and events
- Membership in a welcoming and supportive community of artists and art enthusiasts.
